Welcome to the home of OldCarMama

Hello, and welcome to OldCarMama.com.

On my little piece of the web, I hope to keep in touch with family and friends, invite new friendships into my life, and possibly make you smile.

I am a writer, and have been for most of my life. On this site you will be able to read and, if you choose, critique my short fiction and “pomes.” Please note that all my work is copyrighted. You can also post your own writing on this site if you wish. I love reading the work of others.

Aside from writing, my passions are old cars, drag racing, and baseball (not necessarily in that order). I am a rabid Mets and Red Sox fan. My favorite hat says “NOT The Yankees.”  My husband, Ernie and I have a 1941 Dodge Business Coupe street rod and attend as many car shows as we possibly can all year. We are also avid fans of NHRA drag racing and have been since our teens.

In March of 2009 I was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). There is a link on this site to the ALS Association web site, and also to their “blog spot” where I am a proud contributor. The ALS Association works tirelessly to help ALS patients and our families live better and fuller lives despite this devastating illness.

I hope that you enjoy your visit to my “home away from home” and that you will come back again soon.

All the credit for building this site, from the beginning, goes to my daughter, Barbara. She has worked tirelessly to set everything up just as I envisioned it. We have shared many laughs while working together to bring my dream to fruition. Thanks, Barb. I love you.

Ruthie
